Raphael deserves more than an apology 2k16,
Raphael Santiago was never in a position where he absolutely had to help the shadowhunters. I want everyone to understand, that there was actually never a point in time, where his helping them was because he was forced or he had no other choice. Raphael never needed to let Simon go. He never needed to save his life thereafter. You could argue he did it to stay on the Nephilim’s good side, because he is smart. But, he had proof that it had been Camille alone who broke the accords repeatedly. He did not necessarily need to do what he did to defend the vampires if he had proof against her, and he certainly was never required to take Simon into his home and teach him how to handle what he’s become.
